Sunday's Sermon

My procrastination actually paid of today. I have something wonderful to share with you.
Today at Church on of our lessons was based on a General Conference Address by Donald Hallstrom titled ' Turn to the Lord'.

I really felt the spirit while the teacher was speaking.

The quote that I like the most was ' Don't let an earthly circumstance affect your spirituality.'

How often have we heard of someone getting offended at church and not coming back or letting the death of a loved one affect cause them to start drinking or the circumstance of divorce cause them to not come back to church.

I don't ever want to be a person who lets an earthly challenge come in the way of or affect my eternal life. And I was reminded of that today. Thank goodness for wonderful teachers who are in tune with the spirit.

Here is another quote from the talk.

'In the most difficult circumstances of life, there is often only one source of peace. The Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, extends His grace with the invitation “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). He further promises, “My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you” (John 14:27).'

Sunday's Sermon, Happy Father's Day

First off I want to say Happy Father's Day to all of you out there, especially my father, father- in - law and especially the father of my children. These three men mean so much to me. I don't know if I could ask for better examples for me and my children. They are the most loving, kind, patient and fun men to be with.

I also have to let you all know how much I am thankful for my Father in Heaven. Without him, this life would not mean much. The fact that he has given me the ultimate gift of eternal life, I will be ever grateful.

I saw this new Father and Sons video this morning and thought I would share it with you all.

Sunday's Sermon

It seems like I am surrounded by people who have lost their loved ones recently. I am so thankful for my religion, my beliefs and my knowledge of living with our families for eternity.

I remember when I was a child, I slept over at a friends house. I could have only been 6 or 7 and yet we stayed up all night talking about how I believed that I could live with my family forever. I remember how amazed she was at that concept after recently loosing an extended family member. Now, this isn't a story of conversion, in fact, I don't even remember her full name nor do I know where she is now, but I do know that I planted one of the most important seeds of the gospel.

I love the most recent Mormon Message where President Monson gives a story conveying this same message. You can see it here...

Sunday's Sermon and Featured

I wanted to share one of my favorite scriptures from the Book of Mormon today:

“Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; … and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls.”
Alma 37:6-7

It is great to know that those that continually try to be better can achieve the fullness of the gospel and eternal life...what a great blessing.

On another note. Small and simple things on my part are slowly bringing my dream of having a successful blog to past.

I was featured today on the blog Fireflies and Jellybeans for my Banana Pops. Check it out here.

Sunday's Sermon

This is one of my favorite scriptures. It speaks for itself.

“My grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them” (Ether 12:27).

Sunday's Sermon

President Thomas S. Monson said that we should all try and live by this Poem:

I have wept in the night

For the shortness of sight
That to somebody’s need made me blind;
But I never have yet
Felt a tinge of regret
For being a little too kind.

Sunday's Sermon

" It is our imperative Duty to help youth understand and believe the gospel in a deeply personal way. We can teach them to walk in the light, but that light cannot be borrowed. They must earn it for themselves. They must obtain their own light of testimony directly from the source of spiritual light, God himself, through prayer and study and pondering. They must understand who they are and who Heavenly Father wants them to become."

Elder Robert D. Hales
Of The Quarm of the Twelve Apostles
April 2010 Conference

Sunday's Sermon

"When we seek to serve others, we are motivated not by selfishness but by charity. This is the way Jesus Christ lived His life and the way a holder of the priesthood must live his. The Savior did not care for the honors of men; Satan offered Him all the kingdoms and glory of the world, and Jesus rejected the offer immediately and completely (see Matthew 4:8–10). Throughout His life, the Savior must have often felt tired and pressed upon, with scarcely a moment to Himself; yet He always made time for the sick, the sorrowful, and the overlooked."

Dieter F. Uchtdorf, "Lift Where You Stand," Ensign, Nov. 2008, 54

Sunday's Sermon

“There is no greater evidence of the infinite power and perfection of God’s love than is declared by the Apostle John: ‘For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son’ (John 3:16). Another Apostle wrote that God ‘spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all’ (Romans 8:32). Think how it must have grieved our Heavenly Father to send His Son to endure incomprehensible suffering for our sins. That is the greatest evidence of His love for each of us!”

Dallin H. Oaks, “Love and Law,” Ensign, Nov., 2009, 26

Sunday's Sermon

"It is the parents who can give children the kind of love and security which can come from no other source. A child who understands who he is, and who has the kind of home where he feels wanted and loved, has no need to go wandering off to try to find his identity and to search for a happiness he will not find outside the so-called 'establishment.'

"The happiest people I know are those whose life-style centers around the home. Work is very important, and success in one's profession or business is also essential to happiness, but remember what we say so often: 'No other success can compensate for failure in the home.' "

N. Eldon Tanner, "Happiness Is Home Centered, Ensign," June 1978, 2
